BHI Construction Co. is continually recognized by the building industry as a leader in quality design and construction.

The company was selected to work together with architects and interior designers to construct two Coastal Living Idea Homes in the Bald Head Island community of Cape Fear Station. The houses were prominently featured in an issue of the national magazine and offered for sale through Bald Head Island Limited Real Estate Sales.

The same Coastal Living homes were also recently honored for outstanding achievement in design and construction by both Builder Magazine and Professional Builder.

The Family Reunion House, an oceanfront home designed by architect George Graves, won the prestigious Gold Award in the Best in American Living competition in the one-of-a-kind spec-built home category for homes ranging from 4,001 to 6,500 square feet. The Couple's Cottage, a marsh-view home designed by architect Chuck Dietsche, won a Platinum Best in American Living Award and a Builder's Choice Merit Award in the production/semi-custom category for homes ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. Graves and Dietsche have designed numerous homes for BHI Construction Company on Bald Head Island and both are residents of Wilmington, NC.

The Best in American Living competition is one of the most prestigious new home design competitions in the industry and is open to builders, architects, designers, developers, land planners and interior designers. Builder Magazine’s annual awards program recognizes entries that illustrate design quality and success in the marketplace, in addition to clean and simple design with a straightforward focus. Judges for the competition include architects, research and development professionals, builders and designers.

The award-winning Couple's Cottage, which features an upside-down floor plan with the common areas on the second floor and bedrooms on the first, is an example of architect Chuck Dietsche’s signature eco-romantic style.
